The family: circularity of functions

n this contribution, the circularity of family functions is intended to fit into the parent-child relationship. We start from the perspective of an individual who is never isolated but inevitably in relation to the other and therefore constituted through a series of relationships. We define the family as the place of organization and development of the subject. This idea of family allows us to carry out the therapy considering both individual and group dimensions and the circularity of the relationships between them. The family has some peculiarities in its being a group such as the presence of generations and the fact that it is the primary place of development of the individual. Family therapy serves to see how much we use the other to maintain our rigidity; rigidity is put at the service of maintaining the bond as shown in the clinical vignette presented.
