What does it mean to receive and promote in Italy the important work of a foreign psychoanalyst? The author deals with this issue with regard to S.A. Mitchell (1946-2000), having he devoted himself to the promotion of his work in Italy in the years 1988-1996, with the result of its greater reception in Italy than in any other European country.
