Law 180 has returned psychiatric patients to the territory. In this way it has not solved one problem, but has created many others. Above all, it has created confusion among mental health workers who find themselves swinging between discouragement and megalomania. The new concept of recovery, understood as a goal of recovery, recovery and reintegration, rather than clinical healing, is useful in this respect. It is a reversal of the traditional approach that shifts the focus from the illness to the person and can result in a progressive re-emergence of hope, a sense of power and personal control (mastery, personal agency).
