In questo lavoro ci occupiamo della sottorappresentazione degli italo-americani in psicoanalisi negli Stati Uniti, sia come psicoanalisti che come analisti. Suggeriamo che questa sottorappresentazione sia nata da una confluenza di pregiudizi culturali nei criteri tradizionali di analizzabilità e di stereotipi peggiorativi sugli italo-americani che hanno scoraggiato la loro partecipazione a scapito del settore. Il documento suggerisce che gli sviluppi contemporanei in varie scuole di psicoanalisi aprono nuove opportunità per ripensare il luogo culturale della psicoanalisi.
