It is rare to find books that combine breadth and depth of scope as D'Elia and Nicolaus manage to do in this work on the contemporary human condition, starting with the hypothesis (already effectively stated by the title) that capitalism, as a pervasive socio-economic system, is undermining the very foundations of our humanity, imposing political lines, social values, patterns of relationships and lifestyles that are functional to the interests of the global economy but incompatible with the most essential bio-psycho-social needs of our species.
