What are emotions? What functionality do they have for man? What role does the relationship play in developing the ability to experience emotions? What use does the therapist make of the patient's emotions during the analytical process? These are important questions, the answers to which highlight the underlying ideas of man and care. The A. starts a reflection on the current conceptions of emotion and emotional competence and on the results of research in this field, proposing a different vision of the meaning of emotions and living emotions, in the light of the theory of non-linear dynamic systems, from the perspective of the epistemology of complexity.
