While reading the case presented by Drs. Claudia Zaccaria and Francesca Balestra, the image of two children fighting and vying for their mother's attention appeared in my mind, forming, as in cartoons, a single ball. Agreeing with the two colleagues, I consider that there is no differentiation between the two partners, the relationship is con-fusive. A fundamental purpose of therapy, then, is to help both of them distinguish the personal characteristics that make each of them unique and unmistakable. [...]
