Therapist's notes and measures of the referential process. A possible 'analytical third'

It is here suggested an analysis of the therapist"s notes about the clinical work with a patient, conducted by the application of a computer based measure of the linguistic measures developed in the frame of the multiple code theory. The results, in accordance with the literature, highlighted a string relation between the linguistic aspects of therapist"s notes and the efficiency of the clinical work. The linguistic analysis of the therapist"s notes can widen the possibilities of clinical research as well as be a useful tool to understand and in part to predict the development of the case and the kind of relationship that is established during therapy. The therapist who adopts this methodology in their professional practice can have an analytical instrument that facilitates the supervision and the reflection over the case, this becoming an "analitycal third" that contributes to monitor and strengthen the referential process, which connects it to the emotional experience the patient is living.
